Three Titans Named to 2024 Frontier League All-Star Game

The Frontier League has announced its rosters for the upcoming 2024 Frontier League All-Star Game, in Québec City, Québec on Wednesday, July 17. The Titans will be represented by left-handed pitcher Grant Larson, right-handed pitcher Erasmo Piñales, and infielder AJ Wright.
The teams were voted on by the league’s managers, coaches, broadcasters, general managers, and local media.
Larson, 27, heads to Québec for his second-straight all-star appearance – in which the San Diego product is working on one of the best campaigns of his four-year professional career. Larson is currently 3-2 with a 3.27 ERA through 52.1 innings over eight starts. The lefty has walked just ten opposing hitters while striking out 51.
Larson was named Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 11 to 16 – in which he made one of the best starts of his professional career – tossing the first nine-inning complete game shutout in regular season franchise history in a Titans’ 6-0 victory. Larson allowed just four hits in the win, walking two, hitting one, and striking out a career-best 13 opposing hitters. Also in that victory, Larson tossed an immaculate inning - striking out the side on nine pitches.
Piñales, 29, will make the second all-star appearance of his ten-year professional career after being elected a mid-season all-star in the Dominican Summer League in 2014 while a member of the Houston Astros organization. The closer has had a tremendous start to the 2024 season, where he is 1-1 with a 0.48 ERA while leading the league with 14 saves. Over 18.2 innings, Piñales has allowed just one earned run – while walking 11 and striking out 16. The veteran recently had a nine-inning shutout streak snapped in his save last week.
A product of La Vega, Dominican Republic – Piñales made 35 appearances in 2023 with the Titans, going 5-2 with a 1.50 ERA – allowing only six earned runs across 36 innings pitched. To go along with six saves, the righty fanned 39. In 11 outings from May 13 to July 4, Piñales allowed one run (unearned), working 10.2 frames in the process.
Wright, 27, will head to his second mid-summer classic as a member of the Titans after representing the club at the event in 2022. One of the most prolific players in the lineup so far in 2024, Wright is hitting a team-leading .324 with nine homers and 31 RBI through 45 games this season. Wright notched an on-base streak of 20 games earlier this season and has recorded 13 multi-hit performances.
He was named Player of the Week from May 21 to 26 – where he caught fire during the Titans’ opening homestand by going 12-for-25 in the six games with two doubles, three homers, and eight RBI.
Playing in all 96 contests a year ago, Wright notched 101 hits, maintaining an average of .285 with a career-high 14 homers, and 57 RBI. For the second straight season, Wright ranked atop the squad in walks, drawing 56.

Larson, Piñales et Wright iront au match des étoiles
Grant Larson, Erasmo Piñales et AJ Wright représenteront les Titans d’Ottawa au match des étoiles le 17 juillet prochain à Québec, le domicile des Capitales de Québec. Ce match opposera les meilleurs joueurs de la division Est et ceux de la division Ouest.
Le lanceur gaucher, Grant Larson, a remporté trois de ses huit décisions, retirant sur des prises 51 frappeurs en 52.1 manches de travail avec une moyenne de points mérités de 3.27.
Il a réussi un premier blanchissage de l'histoire de la franchise en saison régulière dans la victoire de 6-0 des Titans le 14 juin. Le gaucher n'a permis que quatre coups sûrs dans la victoire, marchant deux et retirant 13 frappeurs adverses, un record en carrière. Dans la victoire, Larson a également lancé une manche immaculée, retirant les adversaires en neuf lancers.
Le lanceur droitier, Erasmo Piñales, a connu un début de saison exceptionnel en 2024, où il est 1-1 avec une moyenne de points mérités de 0.48 tout en menant la ligue avec 14 sauvetages. En 18.2 manches, Piñales n'a accordé qu'un seul point mérité. Le vétéran a récemment vu sa série de neuf manches blanches s'interrompre lors de son sauvetage la semaine dernière.
En 35 matchs la saison dernière, Piñales a obtenu une fiche de 5-2 avec une moyenne de 1.50, ne permettant que six points mérités en 36 manches. En plus de ses six sauvetages il a obtenu 39 retraits au bâton.
L’avant-champ, AJ Wright, présente une fiche impressionnante, détenant une moyenne au bâton de .324. Il a claqué plus de sept doubles, neuf coups de circuit, marquant 37 points, en plus d’en produire 31. De plus, il détient une moyenne de présence sur les buts de .419.
En 96 matchs la saison dernière, Wright a frappé .285 avec 14 circuits et 57 points produits.
Il a maintenu une moyenne au bâton de .277 avec 12 circuits et 54 points produits en 88 matchs lors de sa première saison aven les Titans en 2022. Aussi, il a été choisi pour le match des étoiles avec la Division Est.
